Yes, I want to be happy! Yes, I want the man of my dreams, the most ambitious job, the most beautiful home and the most fit body. I want it, I want it. I want it all!
So, what do I do?
Well, logic says that I put in the most effort into my relationships, work the hardest in my current job, think out of the box, have the courage to sacrifice and workout with discipline and aim for the bull’s eye and then, Voila! I will have everything.
But let’s be honest here, how many of us really go through with this?
People often spend one third of their lives just dreaming about these, next third in the frustration of not being able to achieve these and then the last bit of it finding excuses and wisdom of why they couldn’t reach these goals.
What do you think went wrong? We are all asked to dream big, taught to aim for the stars and conditioned to reach the zenith. However, no one teaches us that there is something else also waiting there for us, in disguise. Before that glory, comes the sweat, before that zenith, comes innumerable lows and before that unbeatable success come countless failures.
It is okay if you are experiencing these. It is okay to feel pulled back by these.
You know, why? Because no one else had it any other way.
What is not okay is to stop. What is not okay is to not pursue.
It is good to dream but to pursue it is even better, even people who reach the highest of the peaks get tears at the top not because the view is great but because they succeeded the climb.
Ever wondered why all the biggies always talk about their tough journeys? It’s because till now they find joy in those struggles. It’s because that success is empty without those failures.
Tears of joy come only when your journey was tough enough.
The point is, in the end, it is the journey that matters, even if it brought you to a different destination.
Sometimes in life you need to do things irrespective of whether you are enthusiastic enough for it or not. Sometimes you just need to go through a certain process and see how it feels like at the finish line. Even if something is not waiting for you on the other side, sometimes you just need to give it a shot and be happy about the fact that you got to explore it.
“It is better to act and burn rather than to wonder, die in amaze and miss that thunder”
So, let’s hope that we get what we hoped for but, remember, even if that doesn't happen we still have a life and an another option. We can always live with a different pursuit, if we dared enough to go through the previous process then, we can gather strength to go through another.
